The Indian summer continues as we have an absolutely stunning day here in Felixstowe:) Mag was out on her bike at seven this morning, I gave that a miss, we then had a industrious morning at home. I started with exercises in the sunshine in the garden then breakfast, followed by chopping a dustbin full of kindling while Mag cleaned the house. Then homemade soup before heading out on our bikes at two for Trimley Marshes to see what birds were about. The docks and River Orwell were stunning in the watery sunshine and still airs and the birds were out in force. Loads of Snipe, Reed Buntings, Robins, Geese, Lapwings, Egrets, Wagtails, Oyster Catchers, Starlings, Widgeons, Teal but sadly no Avocets:( I biked along the sea wall & Mag carried on on the track, stopping off at the three hides along the way, and we had them all to ourselves. There was a couple of coasters on the Orwell, one leaving, one arriving and a few pleasure craft. With the sun setting fast we set off for home by first heading towards Levington Marina past the lagoon with the fantastic dead trees. Stopping at our favourite seat on the cliff looking out over Levington Bay enjoying the misty sun setting. Then up by Loompit lake to our lovely tree lined lanes through autumn colours to home. Stopped off at Morrisons to check the local papers to see if any of my pics were in and to catch the huge red ball of the sun as it disappeared behind the dock cranes! So two and a half hours out covering 12 miles. So we achieved our aim of keeping ourselves very busy today because our thoughts have never been far from our son Rob who is having a knee operation - here's wishing him a speedy recovery!
